About
When Tom Zimmerman passed away In April of 2020, we lost an amazing friend, family member, talented musician and creative force. Last year the pandemic prevented his fans, friends and family from properly memorializing Tom. In 2021, we decided to organize a rock 'n' throw-down/benefit/concert/memorial in his honor. We've dubbed it TomFest!
Results
We wanted to share some details about the impact that the first TomFest had on young musicians. With your donations we raised over $10,000 and helped seven young musicians in need continue their musical education at the Oak Park School of Rock. Specifically, the donations from the first TomFest covered:
- Five months of tuition for two siblings (age groups 8-11 and 12-17)
- Four months of tuition for a teen (age 12-17) student
- Three months of tuition for a young (age 6-7) student
- Additionally, we helped two brothers participate in a season with School of Rock's Performance Program
- We also funded the last two months of tuition for a teen in the Performance Program, allowing him to complete the season
In another beautiful example of giving, The School of Rock is allowing any TomFest scholarship recipient to reapply seasonally (every four months). Based on their attendance, participation, progress, and commitment their scholarship may be extended at the judgment and funding of School of Rock.
